Paraplanning
support officer
Research pulled and tabulated, advice documents assembled from your templates with client data populated, and appendices and disclosures attached — so your paraplanner analyses rather than formats.
Paraplanners spend their day producing documents
A paraplanner is expensive because the technical analysis is genuinely skilled work — strategy construction, projections, product comparison, compliance reasoning.
What actually fills their day is production: populating templates, pulling research data, assembling appendices, formatting, checking the document is internally consistent and every disclosure is attached.
A support officer takes the production. The paraplanner does the analysis and the adviser does the advice — which is what both of them are paid for.
What they produce
- Research collation — Product and fund data pulled from your research tools and tabulated in your comparison format for the paraplanner to analyse.
- Advice document assembly — Statements of advice and records of advice built from your templates with client data populated accurately.
- Appendices and disclosures — Fee disclosures, product disclosure references and appendices assembled and attached correctly.
- Document consistency checks — Numbers, names and recommendations checked for internal consistency across the document — the errors that undermine an otherwise good SOA.
- Illustration and projection inputs — Inputs entered into your modelling tools ready for the paraplanner's review.
- Template maintenance — Your document templates kept current as your licensee's requirements change.
- File assembly — The complete advice file assembled with the evidence trail in order.
- Version control — Drafts tracked so the reviewed version is unambiguous.
The advice and analysis line
Production travels. The technical analysis belongs with a qualified paraplanner; the advice belongs with an authorised adviser.
- Strategy constructionBuilding the strategy is paraplanning work requiring qualification and judgement.
- Product recommendationsNever formed or suggested.
- Projections and assumptionsThey enter inputs; setting assumptions and interpreting outputs is the paraplanner's.
- Advice sign-offDocuments are reviewed and signed by your authorised adviser.
