Agency margin dies in production

An agency sells strategy and creative and bills for time. What erodes the margin is production: resizing an asset for six placements, building the same campaign structure for the fourth client, assembling a monthly report, scheduling a content calendar, chasing client approvals.

It is real work and it has to happen, but it is being done by people whose rate assumes they are doing something else. So either the margin absorbs it or it happens after hours.

Offshore production capacity fixes the arithmetic directly. The strategy and the creative direction stay in-house; the execution scales without scaling your salary bill.

What an agency hands over first

  • Campaign build — Ad sets, audiences, tracking and creative uploaded and configured to your brief, ready for your review before anything goes live.
  • Design production — Master creative resized and adapted across every placement and format, to spec, without a designer doing it.
  • Video editing and repurposing — Long-form cut into the short formats each platform wants, subtitled, thumbnailed and delivered.
  • Content scheduling — Calendars built and scheduled across every client account, with approvals tracked.
  • Reporting — Client dashboards and monthly reports built once and produced consistently rather than rebuilt by hand each month.
  • Landing page and email build — Pages and campaigns assembled from your wireframes, tested end to end before handover.
  • Client delivery admin — Approvals chased, assets collected, timelines tracked and status kept current so account managers stop chasing.
  • Internal ops — Timesheets chased, project boards accurate, and resource planning data reliable enough to use.

What stays in the agency

Production travels. Strategy, client relationships and anything that spends a client's money do not.

  • Strategy and creative directionWhat the campaign says and why is what clients pay you for. Never delegated.
  • Client relationshipsThey produce; account managers own the relationship and the results conversation.
  • Ad spend authorisationBuilding a campaign is not authorising a budget. Spend approval stays with you.
  • Client data accessGrant per-client access rather than blanket access, and check your own client agreements on subcontracting first.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do we have to tell clients?
Check your client agreements — many have subcontracting or data-location clauses, and that is the real question rather than a matter of taste. Plenty of agencies simply present offshore team members as part of the team, which is honest, because they are dedicated to you rather than shared.
Can they work across multiple client accounts?
Yes, and that is usually the point — a production person supports several accounts at once. Set access per client rather than globally, and keep a written list of who has access to what.
What about creative quality?
Production design and original creative are different jobs. An offshore producer adapting your master creative to twelve placements will do it accurately and consistently. Asking them to originate the concept is where agencies get disappointed — keep the concept in-house.
How much does it cost?
From $14/hr + GST full-time — up to 70% less than a local hire, with no placement fee. Run your numbers →
How fast can we start?
Typically 14 days from your discovery call to day one. In the first week we source and screen against your brief; you get three matched profiles and interview whoever you like. Once you choose, we handle the offer, the contract, equipment and connectivity checks. Specialist roles can take longer and we would rather tell you three weeks and mean it than promise two.
Is there a minimum term?
Three months, then month to month. It's the same runway you'd give a new local hire to learn your systems, your clients and your standards — and the team members who get a fair run are the ones who stay for years. There are no exit penalties at any point, and if the issue is the person rather than the role, the first-week refund and free replacement cover that separately.
How do you handle confidentiality?
The same way you'd treat any remote team member. Every placement signs an NDA and a confidentiality clause before day one, and they work inside your systems — your email, your CRM, your file storage — so you control what they can see and can revoke access instantly. No client data is stored on our side.
